Louisiana (Sept. 25, 2005) Ð A Sailor assigned to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Four Eight (HSL-48), looks out the cabin of his SH-60B Seahawk helicopter as it approaches the Louisiana coastline. HSL-48 is currently embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) conducting rescue and assistance operations following Hurricane Rita. The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Rita humanitarian assistance operations are led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
